Tour Details
Your photography seminar in Washington, D.C. begins with an in-depth 45-minute travel photography orientation during which you will learn tips on basic architectural photography, outdoor portraiture, and indoor photography without flash or tripod. Your expert photography guide will then take you on a Washington, D.C. photo tour for hands-on guidance as well as access to the best sites and angles for shooting remarkable photos.

Your tour will take you to some of the most popular monuments in Washington, D.C. Begin your day at the Renwick Gallery, where your small group will meet. Proceed to the White House for some classic shots before heading into Lafayette Park. Also known as Presidential Park, Lafayette Park is the home to many beautiful sculptures in addition to unique and interesting angles of the White House. Later, walk to the memorials dedicated to Albert Einstein, President Lincoln, The Korean War, and The Vietnam War. Each location offers new lessons in photography. Your next stop will be Union Station, where you will practice indoor photography for large spaces and learn tricks to make all the moving people in the station practically disappear.

After breaking for lunch at Union Station, your photo tour will move on to Washington, D.C.'s colorful Adams Morgan district. Once there, you will practice "right-brained" abstract photography while capturing many beautiful colors and designs. Continue on to the enormous Washington National Cathedral, where you will learn how to shoot the inticate church interior and capture the stunning beauty of its stained glass windows. Your final stop on this Washington, D.C. photo tour will take you to the 76-foot tall Iwo Jima Marine Corps Memorial in Arlington. Once there, you can duplicate the now famous photograph taken on Mt. Suribachi in 1945. You can also take photos of the surrounding area with backdrops of the Washington Monument and U.S. Capitol across the Potomac River.

This Washington, D.C. photo safari is an excellent learning opportunity for all photographers from beginner to budding professionals. Users of all types of cameras (film and digital) are welcome to attend as long as they are familiar with how to change their cameras settings. If using an SLR please bring all your lenses and equipment. Your tour will conclude at the Rosslyn Metro Station on the Blue/Orange Lines.
